With Millennials making up the largest share of the U.S. workforce, you're going to need them. However, studies reveal there is one problem with that: 8 out of 10 Millennials are unfamiliar with insurance as a career path.
As a millennial, I can speak to the accuracy of this. If you would have told me that within three years of graduating college, I would work in the insurance industry, I would have said, "what's insurance?" (Not really, but pretty much.) Until I found myself working for an insurance company, I didn't realize that there were so many unique and intriguing opportunities for young professionals.
Why do you work in insurance? As the Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Information Institute, Sean M. Kevelighan, explains, "the question should be why WOULDN'T anybody want to work in an industry that's creating jobs that empower people from all fields and backgrounds to make lasting contributions to their communities."
Feeling inspired? That's because how we talk about the industry matters. We have to become advocates of insurance careers and encourage our coworkers to do the same.
